Bone Earrings

I made a cute little pair of bone post earrings out of sterling silver wire. I have a bone bracelet in the works and then I think that will be it as far as Halloween and Day of the Dead designs go. I prob should have made some sugar skull designs. Come to think of it, I have a sterling sugar skull already stamped that's been floating around my bench for months. I think the bone bracelet may have just turned into a bone necklace to accompany the sugar skull!! :)

These beauties can be found in my Etsy shop.

Leather....

I have been conducting experiments of the leather variety trying to come up with a bracelet design that I just love.

Sample 1:

This is my first try.  I made it to close at 7 1/2" and 8 1/2".  I had thought that making it versatile would be good, but on second thought I think they should be made as close to the actual wrist size as possible.  I can live with the doubled up section, but I'm not really loving it.

I have always been particular about my bracelets.  I like them to fit not tight, but not loose. The 7 1/2" closure works perfectly for me.

I also think the snaps would fit a bit better if the beaded border wasn't there.

Overall, the design is a keeper.  I've been wearing it all day and love it more and more.  I just need to make a few adjustments here and there.  I'm also considering making it more like a bangle bracelet.  I'm thinking I could let it dry on my bracelet mandrel after stamping it, and it should retain the round shape.  We shall see.  More experiments to come.  Give me some feedback please!  What do you all think?

And..  I finished the rugged little leather butterflies.  I picked these up off of the clearance table when I went to Tandy a couple of weeks ago.  I could not love them more!  These are perfect for summer.  I picture them with sundresses!  :-)

Rugged Butterfly with Turquoise

Snow White & Rose Red ~ Fresh Water Pearl and Ruby

Buttercup ~ Carnelian and Calcite

Bluebell ~ Lapis and Kyanite

These have all fluttered into my Etsy Shop.  And they are included in my 20% off sale.  The prices may not be updated yet.  I am trying out Etsy on Sale, and it is supposed to update my new listings to be included in the sale.

That's it for me today!  See you all again soon...  :-)

Wagon Wheels

I've had the idea of Wagon Wheels floating around in my head for a long time.  Wagon Wheels in metal, Wagon Wheels in leather.  When I was on vacation, we passed a street called Wagon Wheel every time we returned to my Aunt and Uncle's house.   I'd smile a little to myself every time we passed by.  Yes, I get it.  I'll make some Wagon Wheels...  ;-)

I got a super cool new metal stamp the other day.  And I went to stamping....

Spokey Dokey ~ Solid Sterling

Spokey Dokey ~ with Chrysoprase

Strawberry Swing ~ Pink Tourmaline and Sterling

The swing earrings started out as Wagon Wheels, but I had a little mishap with one that forced me to change directions.  Sometimes things work out for the better when such things happen.  Will you just look at that Pink Tourmaline?  Gorgeous!  And even though they are large, they aren't too heavy.

So if anyone asks you how you're feeling, and you're sporting a pair of Wagon Wheels, you can say, "Why I'm just spokey dokey!"  Get it?  Spokey Dokey?  Ha!  Never mind... my husband always says that I'm the only one that finds my jokes funny!  :-)

In other news:

I am still agonizing about getting ready for shows this fall.

I want to tweak my display a bit. (just not sure what it is I want to do!)

And I'm throwing around an idea in my head about a build your own charm necklace.
I could make some small bezel set stones, some metal charms, bead drops, gem clusters, etc, etc,
all individual in little segmented trays.

Have several chains.  Different lengths, metals, some beaded, etc...

Then customers could pick and choose what they wanted on their necklace.

What do you guys think?  Do you think people would like that?

Hmmmm.....

THAW52~1

I've told you all about the RAW52 project I'm doing, but I haven't had a chance to tell you about THAW52 yet.

Any guesses what THAW stands for?  :)
It stands for "Thing a Week".
Which, while I do enjoy making rings, appeals to me greatly.
Because that means I can make my very favorite things, Earrings!!!
And as you can see, I am a week behind, but plan on being caught up just in time to begin week 3!

These are the Aphrodite earrings, in keeping with my red, pink and heart themes that I am enjoying right now. :)

All of the metalwork hand made by me here in my home studio with sterling silver and faceted ruby rondelles.

I better get back to work!  Shop update tomorrow! :)

Bella Flor - Blue Chalcedony and Sterling Silver

A little something new. Square faceted cuts of Blue Chalcedony in an antique inspired setting.

Bella Flor, beautiful flower, I love these earrings. Feminine, romantic, and the loveliest shade of blue. They even look good with jeans. :)

New Earrings!

My first pair of sterling silver earrings with bezel set stones!!!!!! That's it, I'm totally hooked. I had so much fun making these, and I am in love with them. I love, love, love Carnelian. It is a gorgeous orangy, reddy, browny color.

I took a few quick pictures this morning because I was dying to share. I haven't decided what will become of these yet, they may end up in the shop, or I may keep them for myself.

I already have a few more designs I'm working on with bezel set stones. So much fun!!!

Cranberries

I really didn't want to do holiday themed jewelry per se, but these have a distinct winter/holiday feel to them. I am so pleased with how they turned out. I fired the silver in my torch until I could see it just starting to melt, and then stamped on the floral motif. After oxidizing and polishing, the texture left on the silver is beautiful. Very antiqued. And the garnets, don't they look just like cranberries?
Matching necklace coming soon!

For sure my neighbors think I'm crazy...

That is if they didn't already. When my neighbor came home this afternoon after picking her boys up at school, I was right outside my front door sitting in a chair and taking pictures of myself.

These are some new earrings I just made. Sterling circles stamped with a circle pattern, convex in shape. Oxidized and polished by hand to bring out the pattern and texture.

These are just born as well. Same circle texture, this time on elongated sterling rectangles. Wire wrapped with red coral beads. For some reason, these make me think of Frida Kahlo.

These self portraits were something of an experiment. I've been trying to think from a buyer's point of view. It is really hard sometimes to get an idea of how big a piece is when you see photos of it without anything to relate it to size wise. So, I tried my hand at self portraits. I just figured out the other day how to use the self timer. Yay for me!

Next "photo shoot", I'll have to spruce my model up a little. :)

My photo shoot was cut short, so I'll hopefully get more pics of the newbies and get them listed in the shop.

Later!

Tiny Bubbles

I had a bunch of extra jump rings laying around and decided to solder them together to form bubble clusters. These sterling silver earrings are light weight and fun! I hope you get a chance to check them out! I think they just might be the prize in my September give-a-way. What do you think?
