Stones...

Instead of being a good housewife and cleaning the house and doing the laundry,
I have allowed myself to be distracted by these:

In my defense, they needed organizing.  NEEDED it, I tell you.

I bought this old printer's drawer to use as a display.  It still needs some work, I just haven't decided if I want to paint it or not yet.

So instead of letting it just take up space, I decided to make it useful.

I had a total aha! moment.  I can't believe I hadn't thought before to lay all my stones out and have a good look at them all together.

I love and remember every precious stone.  Pulling each one out and putting it in it's space was like seeing an old friend.

And then I realize a lot of these old friends are just begging to be Autumn hued designs.

I've always been one to be influenced by the season, and the colors associated with it.

Reds, oranges, yellows...

Does anyone else talk to their stones?

"Ok, who wants to go first?  What do you want to be?...."

;-)

Oh, and P.S.  Clearly I need more stones....

  2. Gorgeous collection! I love your idea to lay them all out and have a good look! I was just talking to mine the other day! "...now which one of you wants to be this? No, sorry, you aren't the one...where are you?...oh, there you are! " perfect. Maybe it's love, maybe it's a sign of bad ventilation in the studio.

  3. I've found a couple of old letterpress trays and am tempted to purchase them, they're lovely! I don't talk to my stones, but I certainly like to look at them and hold them often lol. Oh and totally you need more stones haha!

  4. Yes, of course they need to be re-organised! Nothing wrong with talking to your stones...after all, they speak to us and tell us what they want to become... ;-)

I have an old printers draw just like that with my cabs stored in it too...they work so well, don't they! Now I just need to find a way to store my faceted gem collection (which has overtaken my cab collection 10 times over!)

Obviously they needed a re-organisation. Obviously. And my stash needs one to. Desperately. I don't have any good way of storing them at all. I'm sorry to say they now live ... *whispers* ziplock baggies. All jumbled up.

But I DO remember every one of them and yes... I am known to utter a word or two or three to them. LOL
