On Sunday,

My youngest is having her First Holy Communion. I am almost finished with this set I'm giving her. An adjustable ring, necklace, and earrings. I ordered her a wrist corsage today. My parents, sister and nieces arrive Saturday. I better start cleaning! :)

My girls

These two

And these two.

Love :)

The girls had a piano recital today. They both played well, and my big girl had a friend come and see her play. It's been a nice evening.

Be nice!

Saw this at my new favorite breakfast restaurant, old west cafe in Grapevine. My choice is always the ten gallon hat. It's Eggs Benedict with bacon and shredded cheese. :)

I'm not sure what number I'm on

Lavender at Central Market

I had a lovely Mother's Day until I got sick to my stomach. Unfortunately I'm fairly certain it was the ribeye steak I ate for dinner. I'm pretty sure it's my gallbladder. It doesn't like ribeye for some reason. I'm sure it's all the fat in the meat. I had such a small piece too! Ugh. No more for me.

My family knows me well,

My favorites :)

Another vintage look ring. With a 6mm faceted Hessonite Garnet. Such a gorgeous color. I hesitate to use the word amber when describing the color but really it would be quite accurate. Deep, dark amber.

I made a decision. I plan on making a vintage look ring for every finger. So 2 down 8 to go. The interesting thing about these rings, is that they are simple and since they are simple I have the desire to finish them immaculately. Maybe by the 10 th one I will consider my old school finishing skills to be perfect.

This one reminds me of the sort of ring I would always wear when I was in my teens and twenties. Back then I wore a ring on most fingers. I think it is in part remembrance of my ring wearing past that I want to make these rings.

This design has been floating around my head for a few days now, inspired by vintage jewelry designs and The Great Gatsby jewelry I've been seeing.

I think I may kick it old school for a bit and make a small group of rings.

128/365 seed beads again

I'm learning to embrace my obsessions. Just riding it out to see where it ends.

Also I'm still getting used to the new gym. I'm still reading the Anne of Green Gables series and I'm supposed to be reading The Great Gatsby for the "book club". I say book club in quotes because mostly we talk of everything but the book we read. It's kinda weird. Anyway, I'm having trouble getting into Gatsby. I'm going to have to force myself to push on. We're supposed to go see the movie too. So I'll do it for Leo. ;). Btw, I'm loving the jewelry and women's fashion that I'm seeing in previews of the movie. I have a feeling it will prove to be inspiring!

127/365 seed beads and me

Click for better view

I'm loving exploring color and pattern. They work up pretty quick but I make the necklaces at night when I'm finished with the work of the day and so I allow myself the leisure of beading slowly and deliberately. And each one has a sterling bead on it. I just couldn't make something without at least a touch of silver.

I sent this picture of me to my Mom the other day asking her if she'd wear these necklaces. I'm so in love with them. They are adding color to my usual bland wardrobe.

I've been thinking a lot about the Native Americans and the amazing art they have made with seed beads. I've been doing a little research on the history of seed beads and their connection to Native American artists. It's very interesting, but I'm nerdy like that. 😉

Look familiar? I'm using my molds to make pieces in clay. It's been some time since I worked with clay. I'm already dreaming of glazing and haven't even finished enough pieces for a bisque firing!

I cut these three feathers the other day without really being completely certain what I was going to do with them.

I've always known that one day I would be making a dream catcher. I just didn't know exactly how it would look yet. In fact I am still gathering inspiration from around my bench.

Also I am completely hooked on stringing beads. It is keeping my hands happily busy in the evenings when we watch tv or a movie. And I'm beading in my own quiet time as well.

I go through periods of playing with seed beads. The very first was when I was a kid and my Grandma Helen gave me an Indian bead loom and seed beads in every color. Looking back I am remembering my Grandma and how she must have seen my creative streak and wanted to give me gifts that would encourage me. It wasn't the only box of beads she gave me. I also remember a big box of larger plastic beads in different colors sizes and shapes. I hope I thanked her sufficiently at the time. I still remember that she was the beginning of my love affair with beads.

Also, my daughter wore these ears to dinner.

I think I better enjoy this, I have a feeling it's not going to last long.

I took the girls to marble slab last night so they could get ice creams as big as their heads ;)
